Real Life High School

No YG next two weeks…

Hey, just want to let you know there is no Youth Group tonight or next week, April 1st. I will be out of town tonight for a Pastor’s retreat, and next weekend for the Men’s retreat. Have a great Spring Break! :) Love you all! Stay in the Word over the break, and don’t waste it!

The Meaning of Discipleship

In Matthew 10:24-39, Jesus explains to us the “meaning of discipleship”. In verse 25 He says, “It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher…27 What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.”

Many times throughout the gospels, we read of jesus rising early in the morning while it was yet dark, and going alone to spend time with the Father. Jesus, the Son of God, robed in human flesh, if He had need of frequent, private communion with the Father, how much more do we?! Jesus said, what we hear from him in the dark, the private whispers of God…when was the last time you heard the Lord speak to you in private?

You may think to yourself, “Daniel, I go to church every week as well as youth group, isn’t that enough?” But didn’t our Lord say, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”? You see, time spent with God, hearing his voice speak, is like bread for our soul. I don’t know about you, but I am not content with living off two meals a week! I must eat regularly, frequently, daily, to be satisfied. And in the same way, we must fill our souls with the spiritual food available, communion with the Father, which if we do, will fill our souls and overflow our lives with the goodness of God.

When you have met with the Lord, and been filled with His living water, take what you’ve received in private, and go tell others! Proclaim it on the housetops, He says! Am I excitedly sharing all that the Lord is speaking into my life, and testifying of HIs wondrous works, or do I have a hard time thinking of anything to say, because I never make time for Him to speak, to quiet down my busy mind and listen to the gentle whispers of my Savior.

Lord, would you help us to seek Your face, to know you and to be known of You, to open our hearts for you to search, and purge, that You may fill us with that which is of You. Lord, we are desperate for Your touch, may we see the absolute necessity for us to commune with You. Amen!

The Sword of the Spirit

This week at the Bible Clubs, I will be sharing from Matthew 4:1-11, where Jesus is lead into the wilderness by the Spirit mind you, where He will face three main temptations of the devil. In this passage at the onset of Jesus’ earthly ministry, we see the extreme importance of knowing God’s Word! With each temptation, Satan tries to get Jesus to listen to his voice rather than His Fathers. And each time Jesus uses God’s Word to combat the enemy, the Sword of the Spirit as it’s called in Ephesians 6:. With the third temptation, we see what Satan was really trying to do all along, he wanted to be worshipped, to be exalted above the Most High. Just like he did in the beginning as recorded in Isaiah 14:14, here still, he is wanting the place of God! And so he does to this day in my life and yours! How can we protect ourselves from these schemes of the devil? Well, as Ephesians 6: tells us, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”. Jesus most definitely had the “full armor” on each day, and if He being so much more able than we to resist the enemy had to wear His armor, how much more do we have need of it?!

If we want to live victoriously this week, this day, this minute, we MUST be equipped, having spent time with the Lord (this day), and ready to fight off Satan’s schemes by which he desires to be worshipped.

Real Life HS Tonight!!

Hey everyone, don’t forget that we are starting Real Life at 6:00 from now on, on Sunday nights! This way you can get home an hour sooner for school Monday mornings…See you all tonight! Genesis 43:

As C.S. Lewis observed, “if Christ is not God, then he could not have been an exemplary prophet or a great moral teacher, because he claimed to be God. If he was not who he said he was, then he was either a liar or a lunatic, hardly a great moral teacher or prophet.”

There’s no middle ground…We all must decide.
